It Starts With A Great Building Envelope

Our building shell is a 21st Century evolution of the ancient yurt, offering a strength/weight ratio and portability advantages well known worldwide for nearly 2,000 years. A public domain geometric implementation adapts it to hard panels instead of fabric. Then we add space-age green building science developed in-house and with major international suppliers to create high-performance wall, roof, and floor components.

Our unique building panels are extremely thin, strong, well insulated, and manipulate radiant heat: they reject hot sun in the desert, retain body heat on cold nights, balance interior temperature using the earth, and exploit heat to accomplish useful work. The net results? Occupants stay more comfortable than trailers or tents using far less precious heating fuel or AC.

Add Eco-Friendly Self-Sufficient Utility Systems

Each Flexayurt is a physical and technological “platform” designed to synergistically fuse together multiple emerging cleantech innovations that cut ongoing provisioning expenses. Our base product includes building-integrated photovoltaic technology delivering electric power from the roof to run LED lights, portable electronics, safety alarms, and a unique ventilation system that assists the building shell in controlling heat. Wood waste or (bio)diesel gasifier heat systems are optional, as are off-grid water purification and human waste composting.

By blending emerging “appropriate technologies”, clean technologies, and in-house innovations, we can integrate a camp for 100 in a single shipping container that needs nearly no outside fuel, water, or waste provisioning, is carbon negative, and leaves no trace on the environment. Nice for the planet, and even nicer for our customers’ bottom lines.
